Notes

One of America's most eminent stage-set designers, Jones was educated at Harvard University and became closely associated with the theater early on. More than just background, his stage sets were meant as integral features in the action of a play, a new approach for his time. He was closely affiliated with Eugene O'Neil's early plays, for which he not only created set designs, but often directed as well.
