Frau von Henickstein, facing left in black velvet dress with lace underslip, black stole draped around her shoulders, drop pearl pendant brooch pinned at corsage, four strand pearl necklace, lace-bordered white scarf with white plumes tied under her chin in her dark, plaited and upswept hair adorned with pearl set pins signed and dated 'Robert Theer Wien 1842' (lower right) oval, 4 13/16 in. (123 mm.) high, gilt-metal mount within tooled folding leather case NOTES According to an old handwritten notice, the identification of the sitter is due to Dr Nora Keil of the Albertina, Vienna, on 19 May 1953.
