Lot 1252: Rookwood Vellum plaque, McDonald, scene, 5 1/8 b

Vellum Glaze plaque, 5 1/8 inches by 9 1/4 inches, decorated by Margaret McDonald in 1916. She has portrayed a deep blue lake along a tree-lined shore under a brilliant blue sky. The plaque is marked with the decorator's monogram in the lower righthand corner while the obverse is marked with the Rookwood logo, the date and an impressed V for Vellum Glaze. Even crazing and a pipoint glaze zit.The frame appears original and a typewritten label reads "The Lake, M.H.McDonald" while a newer brass plate reads "Margaret Helen McDonald, 1893-1964."
