Condition Report

(i) The canvas has not been lined. There is a small dent with a 2cm tear in the centre of the picture and there is some spotting throughout the composition as visible in the catalogue illustration. Ultra-violet light reveals signs of retouching addressing the aforementioned tear, one spot along the lower framing edge and one towards the centre left edge, possibly addressing an old repair (3 by 6cm patch on the reverse). Presented in a decorative gilt frame. (ii) The canvas has not been lined. There is some spotting throughout the composition as visible in the catalogue illustration. Ultra-violet light reveals very small signs of retouching notably to the left of the sitters face. The picture is overall in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame
