Description

RARE RUSSIAN CEREMONIAL SPOON - Plique-a-Jour Chased Gilt Silver 'Babina Kasha' Baptismal Spoon by Antip Ivanovich Kuzmichev, Moscow 84 zlotny mark, ca 1895, with angled bowl, used by the midwife to feed the first solid food to the child at the ceremony, this is decorated with red, blue and yellow plique-a-jour to the bowl and spatulate handle, the twisted handle stem is surmounted by a engraved monogram cartouche 'JSL', 5" long handle, 2 3/4" long bowl, 2.03 ozt, wear to gilding on handle.
