first edition, and a superb association copy. patrick lamb's copy, given to him by king james . Patrick Lamb (c. 1650-c. 1709) was cook to James II, and successively to William and Mary and Queen Anne. The magnificent banquet that he prepared for James II is handsomely illustrated in the work in two plates, one showing the table plan, the other showing the inside of Westminster Hall as the feast was in progress. Seventeen pages of the text are devoted to a description of the event.
