Through painting and video work, Sascha Hahn is primarily interested in creating spaces from which reflection on the contemporary uses and meanings of signs is possible. He analyzes where the world of signs stems from, including graffiti and late modern paintings by minimalists such as Kenneth Noland and Frank Stella, in order to question the relation between the reception and production of art. Hahn juxtaposes the idolatry of pop culture against the reality of daily life, highlighting the availability of images, particularly those created around artists. Group exhibitions include Novel: Anna Catharina Gebbers, Bibliothekswohnung, Berlin (2008); Cobra to Contemporary, Artnews Projects, Berlin (2008); Nothing Else Matters, De Hallen, Haarlem (2007); Street: behind the cliché, Witte de With, Rotterdam (2006); Our Marvellous Ambition, Vilma Gold, London (2006); Friends and Enemies, Gagosian Gallery, Berlin (2006); Autopilot - Konsortium Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf (2005); and Menschensgladbach: Neue Ankufe und Leihgaben, Städtisches Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach (2005). His work is represented in private collections in De Hallen, Haarlem and Städtisches Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach.
