Saul Kovner (NY, 1904-1982), "Plaisantin Farceur" oil on masonite, titled and inscribed on the verso " 'Plaisantin Farceur' / by / S. Kovner," also inscribed "#8 Vaghst (A)," housed in a wooden frame.
Russian-born Saul Kovner studied at the Pratt Institute and National Academy of Design. During the 1920s and 1930s, he maintained a studio near Central Park, taught art classes, and worked for the WPA Federal Art Project.
