Item Overview

Description

Former United States President George H.W. Bush knew a thing or two about baseball. While attending Yale University, he captained the school's baseball team, and as a left-handed first baseman, played in the first College World Series. His fondness for the National Pastime never waned, even during his tenure as Chief Executive. Presented is a letter scripted in black felt tip by Bush during his administration. Dated July 26, 1989, he writes in full: "Dear Michael - Thanks for your letter. I'd love to catch a game at Comisky (sic) some day. Don't whip up on the Rangers, though. Best, George Bush." (In April of 1989, Bush's son, George W. Bush, had assembled a partnership that purchased the Texas Rangers. The younger Bush has since, of course, handled bigger titles and tasks.) The five lines of handwritten text, as well as his signature, rate strong "10" evaluation. His message is penned on a 4-1/4" x 6-3/8" page of "The President" stationery that projects a NM appearance and is accompanied by the original envelope (NM). Very little exists when it comes to correspondence handwritten by modern-day presidents during their time in office, especially examples featuring full signatures! LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo and John Reznikoff/PSA DNA.
