Notes

from the collection of the late Rudolf Serkin.

Apparently unique: this was Schubert's only public concert and we have traced no other example of this ticket. The concert was planned and advertised for 21 March 1828, but postponed until the 26 March, due to the indisposition of the violinist Schuppanzigh. The date entered in ink is thus for the original planned date, subsequently corrected in pencil. The concert was a great success and included the first movement of a new String Quartet (probably that in G major D.887, the first performance), the Piano Trio in E flat (op.100), D.929, "Ständchen" D.920, "Die Allmacht" D.852 and other songs.
