Description

1386. ARTHUR SCHWARTZ (1900-1984) Songwriter, composer, producer, his 1931 show The Bandwagon, introduced his best-known song, Dancing in the Dark. Cover Girl and Night and Day. A lot of three items written to a noted music publishing attorney, including a copy of the sheet music for his 1931 smash hit Dancing In The Dark, inscribed in blue-black fountain pen "For Bill, Who is doing more to keep this song alive than practically anyone else. Gratefully, Arthur Schwartz". Edges rough, overall good condition. Also a T.L.S. on personal letterhead, November 25, 1957, 1p. 4to., signed "Arthur" thanking Bill and his wife for a birthday gift, an illustration of a piano, condition fine. Lastly, a brief A.L.S. on personal stationery, 1p. 8vo, [n.d.], in blue ballpoint: "Dear Bill, Do good with this! Arthur", obviously sent along with another song for publishing, condition good. Three pieces. $100-150
