SEVEN ARCHAISTIC JADE AND HARDSTONE ORNAMENTS

Qing Dynasty

The mythical bird in a sitting pose, carved on both sides in shallow relief and incised lines, the pale stone stained russet brown in areas; the
huang pendant carved with two dragon heads in high relief, the reverse with neatly lined bosses, drilled at one corner for stringing, the stone degraded and with deep russet inclusions; the bottle of flattened rectangular form decorated with two pairs of dragon heads at each shoulder, the short neck with a flat rim above an incised mask pattern, the body decorated with a band of four archaistic characters on either side, the lower register detailed with wave and island patterns, the stone mottled celadon and cream; the flattened oblong fitting with flat sides, perforated with three holes for attachment, the gray stone mottled and stained black in areas; the
bu pendant following the bronze currency prototype, decorated with two characters in seal script, perforated on the top end for stringing; the
cong decorated with nine tiers of striped panels and a
chi dragon on the side, the stone lightly stained brown; the tortoise carapace carved with hexagonal grids and keyfret border, drilled through the center for stringing, the celadon stone stained black and brown in areas. (7)

fitting: 2 5/8in (6.6cm) wide;
bu: 1 7/8in (4.8cm) long;
cong: 1 3/4in (4.5cm) long;
tortoise carapace: 1 3/4in (4.5cm) long

Minor surface pitting and wear. Some surface degradation, most significantly the jade
huang,
bu, and the bottle vase. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity.

The small jade
cong with
chi dragon on the side in the present lot compares closely to the jade
cong in the collection of the Palace Museum, Taipei, illustrated on the museum's website as 故玉004607N, attributed to Qing dynasty.
