Originally from Kerala, Shibu Natesan's works range from subjects that are distinctly 'non-Indian' to the very local scene from his home town. Fascinated by his immediate surroundings the artist captures the fleeting moments combining a flattened perspective and photorealism. In this painting the artist depicts the playfulness in the beaches of Kerala. As rambunctious boys burry their friend in sand, there is a moment of stillness in this painting which preempts the outburst of energy as they break out and the boy from underneath the sand rises.
