Harriet Ann Kingston (née Rooke) (1788-1860), wearing black décolleté dress with bouffant sleeves and white lace trim, gold necklace, black cloak with pink lining, pearl pendent earrings, her dark hair upswept and curled.
Signed on the obverse and dated Rochard pinxit 1830, inscribed on the reverse Harriet Ann, wife of/ John Kingston Esqυr/ painted by Rochard./ dau. Sir Giles Rooke/ about 1830, gilt-metal frame.

Harriet Ann Rooke was John Kingston's second wife. They were married in Lymington on the 7th April 1812. Harriet Ann was the eldest daughter of Sir Giles Rooke (1743–1808), a judge of the Court of Common Pleas and Harriet Sophia Burrard (c.1765-1839), who was renowned for her beauty. John and Harriet had a son, Arthur Burrard Kingston, who joined the Royal Navy and four daughters; Eleanor, Emily, Louisa, and Laura.

John Kingston's brother, Lucy Henry Kingston (d.1851) married the Rookes' second daughter, Frances Sophia (b.1789) in the same year of 1812. They had two sons; the author, William Henry Giles Kingston (1814-1880) and the meteorologist, George Templeman Kingston (1816–1886).
