Sir John Crampton, British 1805-1886- Study of a man with his bear; pencil and watercolour on grey, inscribed and dated St. P Sep 6/29 in pencil, 12.7x11.7cm Provenance: with Thos. Agnew & Sons Ltd No. 38055 according to the label attached to the reverse Provenance: from the Estate of Ronald Dennis Parkinson 1945-2012, he was a prominent art historian, the former head of education and lecturer at the V&A Museum and author of important books on British painting. He compiled the 'V&A's Catalogue of British Oil Paintings 1820-1860' and 'John Constable, The Man and his Art'.
