SIR RICHARD GEORGE AUGUSTUS LEVIGNE (1811-1884)COLLECTION OF ELEVEN LANDSCAPE AND PORTRAIT VIEWS (REPORTEDLY STUDIES DONE ON HIS TRAVELS AROUND TORONTO WHILE GATHERING INFORMATION FOR HIS BOOK "ECHOES FROM THE BACKWOODS", CIRCA 1865Eleven watercolour and pen and ink drawings, some heightened with white, executed in sepia or en grisaille tones tipped to handruled mounting sheets; one signed and dated 1845 at "Point Meredith" lower left, one inscribed: "By Sir Richard Levinge 1811-1884 from Levinge Portfolio formerly at Knockdrin (Castle) Drawings sold Sotheby's (Toronto) Oct. 1968 (11 for $3600 approx)" to the mount verso, others if inscribed verso, and affixed at the corners, the inscriptions are indistinct and unreadable. Accompanied by a letter from the Sims Gallery.
