SIR ROGER de GREY P.R.A. (1918-1995) OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS 'Eldon Place (Newcastle) from a Window' signed lower right, labelled verso 50" x 36" (127cm x 91.5cm) Dating from circa 1950 this work related to several other depictions of the artist's home at that time. De Grey exhibited a painting entitled 'The Open Window' in 'Sixty Paintings for (190 51' (cat 13), a Festival of Britain Exhibition mounted by the Arts Council, another similar work in The Government Art Collection shows a single hunched figure in the street.
