Mrs Simcox Lee (née Lavinia Anne Tarbutt) (d.1869) seated in an emerald green upholstered chair, wearing black silk dress with frilled lace collar, matching beribboned bonnet and gold ring, her hair dressed in ringlets.
Signed on the obverse and dated W.J.Newton 1840, signed, dated and inscribed on the transferred backing paper Mrs Simcox Lee/ Sir Wυm. J. Newton/ Pinxit/ Miniature Painter in ordinary to Her Majesty & the Queen/ Dowager/ 6 Argyll Street/ 1840, gilt-metal mount in gilded wood frame.

Lavinia Anne Tarbutt married Thomas Simcox Lee (1788-1868) of Astley Hall, Stourport on Severn as his second wife on 26 April 1835. She died on 29 April 1869.
