SIX ARCHAISTIC JADE AND HARDSTONE ORNAMENTS

Late Qing Dynasty

The rectangular jade bead of flattened form, decorated with five tiers of striped panels and
ruyi scrolls, inscribed with two archaistic characters, the green stone stained black in areas; the thick
bi disc with an off-centered perforation, the stone turned cream and brown in areas; the oval plaque carved with a boy at the center register, encircled with symbols of the Eight Trigrams on the flat border, the reverse carved with twelve archaic style characters of
di zhi, the celadon stone mottled russet brown; the
bi disc surmounted by a
chi dragon holding a
lingzhi stalk in the mouth, the reverse carved with neatly lined bosses, the white jade with degraded surface; the short
cong with circular rims and square corners, the olive-green stone stained black in areas; the large jade tube with flaring rim decorated with two registers of square corners and a raised band incised with scrolling
ruyi pattern within line borders, the olive-green stone mottled russet-brown. (6)


Rectangular bead: 1 7/8in (4.8cm) long;
Bi disc: 1 3/4in 4.5cm long;
Oval plaque: 2 9/16in (6.5cm) long;
Chi dragon bi disc: 2 1/16in (5.3cm) diam;
Short cong: 1 1/2in (3.8cm) wide;
Large tube: 6 1/16in (5.4cm) high

Minor surface pitting and wear. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity. Old chips to corners, most significantly to the flaring rim of the tube, approx. 2.9cm wide.
