Stanley Simmonds (British, 1917-2006) Untitled, 1960 signed and dated (lower right) oils on board 59cm x 38.5cm. Provenance: with The Bear Lane Gallery, Oxford. During the late 1950s and 1960s Stanley Simmonds exhibited at various galleries in London, Brighton and Oxford, including at the Royal Academy with the 'London Group', The Bear Lane Gallery in Oxford and The Whitechapel Art Gallery. He shared exhibitions with his contemporaries including John Piper, John Bratby and Ivon Hitchens and he also exhibited in numerous Oxford Colleges.
