Capuchin Monastery, Sint Claradreef, Bruges, from whom bought by the father of the present owner in May 1968 (as by Cornelis Schut the Elder).

NOTE

We are grateful to Dr Jean-Pierre de Bruyn who has kindly suggested the attribution to the Studio of Jan Erasmus Quellinus on the basis of a photograph.

The style and execution of this composition also shows resemblances to that of a signed work by the father, Erasmus Quellinus the Younger (1601-1678) showing The Holy Family of 1659, in the Musée de Dunkerque, Dunkerque (inv. no. 216).
