Susan Andrina Ross 1915 - 2006 Canadian mixed media on board Sam Kakegamic, Sandy Lake 26 x 19 inches 66 x 48.3 centimeters signed and on verso titled and dated June 1966 Provenance:The Pollock Gallery, Toronto Private Collection, Toronto Born in Thunder Bay, Susan Ross was painting images of Inuit and Aboriginal life by the time she met Norval Morrisseau in the early 1960s. This meeting likely led to her association with Morrisseau's first Toronto dealer, Jack Pollock. Ross was a mentor to many artists and mounted Daphne Odjig's first exhibition in 1967.
