THE DANISH ROYAL YACHT DANNEBROG SIGNED 'SV. DREWS.' (LOWER LEFT) OIL ON CANVAS 153/4 X 193/4IN. (40 X 50CM.) NOTES THE SECOND DANISH ROYAL YACHT TO BE NAMED DANNEBROG WAS BUILT AT COPENHAGEN'S ROYAL DOCKYARD IN 1931. REGISTERED AT 1,054 TONS GROSS (548 NET), SHE MEASURES 259 FEET IN LENGTH (OVERALL) WITH A 34 FOOT BEAM AND IS POWERED BY A PAIR OF 4-CYLINDER BURMEISTER & WAIN DIESEL ENGINES. DESIGNED WITH A RAKED AND FLARED CLIPPER BOW AND A COUNTER STERN, SHE IS MORE REMINISCENT OF A VICTORIAN STEAM YACHT THAN A TWENTIETH CENTURY MOTOR VESSEL YET HER CLASSIC LINES HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND SHE IS STILL AFLOAT, DESPITE THE PRIVATIONS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR, AND IN THE SERVICE OF THE DANISH MONARCHY.
