Lot 251: Sydney Buck (Irish, active 1839-1849)

Two portraits of Colonel John Wilson (1791-1873) and his son-in-law, Captain Alban Thomas Davies: the former, wearing scarlet coat, gold epaulettes and lace, the cords from his crimson waist sash looped up on to his chest, a campaign medal on blue ribbon pinned to his chest; the latter, wearing black coat, checked blue waistcoat, white chemise and black cravat.
Watercolour on paper, signed on the obverse and dated Sydney Buck/ March 1847 and Sydney Buck 1850 respectively, gilded composition frame and gilded wood frame respectively.
