MADAME DE STAEL. Oeuvres Completes. Paris: Treuttel et Wurtz, 1820-1821. Seventeen volumes, first collected edition. Likely contemporary polished brown calf, gilt ruled, black calf spine labels gilt-lettered and ruled, marbled paper boards, edges sprinkled brown, dark blue silk ribbons. 8 x 4 7/8 inches (20.5 x 12.5 cm); portrait frontispiece in volume I. Some rubbing and wear to extremities, chips to a few headcaps, a few volumes' hinges or joints starting, very occasional pale spotting, but a nice and complete set in contemporary, or near contemporary, bindings, not collated and sold as is.
