Notes

Grasmere lake, approximately one mile long by half a mile wide, lies in the heart of the Lake District. It achieved a fame that still thrives today as the home of William Wordsworth between 1789 and 1808 during which time he wrote much of the poetry he is remembered for including 'Imitations of Immortality', 'Ode to Duty', and 'I wandered lonely as a cloud.'

The Hon. Stephen Coleridge was the second son of Lord Coleridge, the Lord Chief Justice of England between 1880 and 1894. A trained barrister and an accomplished landscape painter, Coleridge travelled extensively, and as well as views of England and Scotland, his oeuvre included views of Venice, South America and the East. During his lifetime he exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street.
