Description

GEORGE GRAMMER (American, b. 1928) The Pueblo Noche Acrylic and watercolor on paper 17-1/2 x 23-1/2 inches (44.5 x 59.7 cm) Signed lower right: Grammer The youngest member of the Fort Worth Circle, George Grammer studied under Kelly Fearing at Texas Wesleyan College, Fort Worth. Awarded a scholarship, he attended the Art Students League and became a full-time resident of New York City in 1957. Painting primarily with oil and watercolor, Grammer is known for his abstracted scenes of architecture, streets, and oil rigs at night, as well as realistic still-lifes. His work was included in Intimate Modernism: Fort Worth Circle Artists in the 1940's (2008), Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth.
