Artist or Maker

Notes

General Sir William Casement (1778-1858) was Secretary to the Governor General of India and member of the Supreme Council of India. He was also the uncle of Sir Roger Casement, who was executed for his involvement in the Easter Rising in 1916.

Thomas Clement Thompson was a prolific artist mainly known for his portraits. Although from Belfast, he was trained at the Dublin Society Schools. However, he moved to London in 1817 and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and British Institution but retained his Irish ties enough to be a founding member of the Royal Hibernian Academy.
