NOTE

Thomas Kirk is one of the foremost Irish sculptors of the early nineteenth century whose portrait busts were described by Strickland as 'esteemed for their accurate and expressive modelling, their delicate handling and distinctness of detail, and their faithfulness as likenesses'. Kirk was a founding member of the Royal Hibernian Academy where he exhibited from 1826 to his death in 1845. Kirk exhibited busts of the Bective family in 1826 and 1828.
