"Bart - Dreaming of Horses". Signed and dated lower right "Thomas W. Lorimer '85".
An original note signed by the artist attached to the reverse reads "This painting is a portrait of Bart Dilks, our friend and fellow horseman who owned the feed and pet store on our corner. He had been raising his two sons in a travel trailer since the accidental death of his wife 12 years before". Thomas found Bart in the back of his store one day in his red leather chair, lost in thought, with a letter and some old family photos in his lap, sent by his wife's relative. Though usually dreaming of horses, Bart's faraway gaze that day, Thomas sensed, was back to another place and happier times.
Oil on board, 9" x 6 1/2". Framed.
