Purchased from Spink & Son Ltd., London. LITERATURE C.W. Graham-Stewart, Thomas Woodward, published privately, 1989, pp. 39, 49, 70, 77, 93, 113, 136. EXHIBITION London, Royal Academy, 1845, no.14. Pershore, A Loan Exhibition of the Works of Thomas Woodward, 13-27 September 1972, no. 30. NOTES The Art Union (1845, vol. 7, p. 180), reviewing the Royal Academy exhibition, commented that the picture 'is full of merit; the animals are admirably drawn and coloured; and the work altogether is a capital example of its class'.
