THREE WHITE OR CREAM GLAZED VESSELS

Mid-Late Qing Dynasty

Comprising a white-glazed incense holder of rectangular shape with nine molded and incised Buddhist lions chasing beribboned balls to on one main side and also to one narrow edge, the other sides solid, one short end with an aperture for a locking cover (missing); a small cream-glazed oviform jar with a dense pale-brown crackle; and a deep rounded cup under a crackled cream glaze painted in pastel enamels with a scene of fishermen on different rafts, one with cormorants, all near a rocky promontory with a pavilion, the center of the interior painted in underglaze cobalt blue with five bats and a
shou character. (3)


incense holder: 6 3/4in (17.1cm) long
jar: 3 1/8in (8cm) high (wood cover)
cup: 2 5/8in (6.7cm) high

Incense holder: Small holes that are later drilled across one edge for suspension. A small bruise with associated cracks at one edge. The original locking porcelain cover missing. Some minor kiln flaws but unobtrusive.


Oviform jar: Some iron-spots.


Cup A small bruise with associated cracks to the rim.
