Lot 60: TORII KIYOMITSU, (1735-85), C.1750'S

standing, holding a long pipe, her head slightly raised and turned to the left as she blows smoke rings, a smoking set on the ground, a poem inscribed above:

Matsuyoi ya / kogaruru mune no / keburigusa
'Smoke rises from her breast as intense as the burning desire for her lover'

publisher's mark of Okumura Genroku, signed Torii Kiyomitsu ga with seal Kiyomitsu

Condition Note: Very good impression, considerably toned and soiled
