TWO OPENWORK JADE PLAQUES

Late Qing Dynasty

Comprising a rectangular panel carved with a pair of confronting butterflies enclosed by a border with notched corners, the top end carved with a bat with its wings spread, the opposite end carved with a fruiting peach branch, the white stone tinted black in recessed areas; the circular panel finely carved with a dragon and a phoenix contending a leafy
lingzhi branch, the white stone mottled and stained brown in areas. (2)


Butterfly plaque: 3 1/8in (7.8cm) high;
Dragon and phoenix plaque: 2 1/8in (5.4cm) diam

Overall in good condition. Minor surface pitting and wear. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity. Nicks to edges.
