Description

TWO VIBRANT TURQUOISE-BLUE GLAZED VASES

Probably 18th century

Comprising: a tall bottle vase with globular body and tall waisted cylindrical neck with slightly flaring covered overall with turquoise glaze of fairly even tone with a light but dense crackle, with a partially glazed biscuit foot ring and deeply cut slightly convex turquoise glazed base;
together with a small pear-shaped vase with flaring foot and tall waisted cylindrical neck with flaring rim, supported on an unglazed biscuit foot ring with deeply cut sloping foot interior. (2)


large vase: 9 1/2in (24.1cm) high
small vase: 5 3/4in (14.6cm) high


Condition Report

Large vase Generally of even tone with some patches to the surface but mostly unobtrusive. Some minute air bubble pinpricks. The turquoise glaze bubbling and pooling unevenly around the foot edge and to the base. Some glaze pulling to the neck interior.


Small vase A short glaze hairline to the rim (1cm) and an original kiln glaze adhesion to the rim interior edge. Some surface scratching to the widest point of the body.
