G.B. Cipriani (possibly his inscription on the mount: Scuola Fiorentina/G. Bat. Cipriani 1770); bears another, unidentified collector's mark on the mount.We are grateful to Mario Di Giampaolo who recognized this previously unattributed drawing as the preparatory study for Sabatini's fresco in Palazzo Venezia in Rome. The artist arrived in Rome to work with Vasari around 1573.
