Notes

"The concerns that give Komu's paintings energy are also manifest in his sculpture, which are composed from charred wooden pots and automobile exhaust-silencer pipes: found materials, respectively, from rural and urban settings, which he aligns with torsos carved in wood these assemblages speak of the resilience of the recycling economy, in an undertone: but, more overtly, they announce that ambivalent linkages between self, machine and ecology, which produce fresh private and social realities even as they destroy older ones."
