Notes

Born in 1892 in Tenque Lauquén, a province of Buenos Aires, Bay would leave for Milan by 1908 where the Futurists would impact his early artistic production. From 1925 to 1929, the artist found himself back in Argentina but eventually returned to Europe and lived throughout the 1940s in Milan. By 1949, Bay had joined the MADI group. Beginning in the 1950s, his work was represented in galleries such as Denise René in Paris and others in his native country.

His works are explorations of space and movement. They transcend reality and are pure expressions of color and invention--the MADI group's foremost preoccupation. Gyula Kosice belligerently expressed the concerns of the movement: "Mankind will no be limited to Planet Earth."
