This panel bears an interesting inscription on the reverse, Man O' War, which would be the title for a painting previously painted on this panel. Throughout his career when Flannery was unsatisfied with a painting he would scrape down the panels and reuse them. This is evidenced numerous times throughout his correspondence with his dealer, Antoinette Kraushaar.
