* Verpilleux (Emile Antoine, 1888-1964). Summer Landscape, 1936, oil on board, signed and dated lower right, 33 x 40.5cm (13 x 16ins), contemp. art deco moulded frame, glazed. The London-born Belgian painter and print maker, Emile Antoine Verpilleux, studied fine art at the Academie des Beaux Arts in Antwerp. He applied unsuccessfully to join the London Group in 1914. (1)
