Notes

Basil Webb was the son of Sir Henry Webb, bart., M.P. of Llwnarthu, Monmouthshire. The bronze offered possibly dates from 1911 when a larger statue, again in bronze, of Basil Webb was exhibited at the Royal Academy. This larger full length statue was later presented to Charterhouse school as a memorial to the Boy Scouts. Basil Webb was killed in action and this presentation took place after the great war.
