Lot 2384: W. Wilson Cast Bronze Plaque - Witterwulghe

In  honor of our nation's 28th President, renowned artisan Joseph Witterwulghe (1883-1967) crafted this uniface cast bronze portrait. Woodrow Wilson is depicted sporting his trademark pince-nez eyewear and clad in suit and tie. Significant attention to detail is evident in the president's countenance, and raised lettering at the base of the display reads, "W.WILSON." The artist engraved his "J.Witterwulghe" signature along the right edge of the approximately 14-1/2" x 18-1/4" work, and despite some very modest rubbing at the nose, this rare find demonstrates impressive display properties.
