Since the 70s, those artists who became known under the name "Artists from Gugging", count worldwide to the chief representatives of the Art Brut. Their origin lies in the 1950s, when the psychiatrist Leo Navratil encouraged his patients to do artistic work and discovered amongst them quite a few talents. Since 1970 these artists were presented in exhibitions nationally and internationally as well as traded on the art market.
