in full round on an integrally carved plinth, dressed in a voluminous cloak with bare feet, his arms spread out in a gesture of adoration, restorations, old woodworming carved W. Pompe to the left side of the plinth, 1743 and 2j2 to the right side

Notes

Walter Pompe, native from the Dutch province Noord-Brabant and pupil of the Antwerp sculptor Michiel van der Voort, became master in 1730. The majority of his surviving production consists of religious sculptures. Compare the present figure with those of St. Joseph, St. James and St. Peter included in the Walter Pompe exhibition held at the Museum voor Religieuze Kunst te Uden in 1979.
