Description

WALTER POPP (American, b. 1920) The Ship's Doctor, digest cover, 1954 Gouache on board 24 x 20 in. Signed lower left This illustration appeared on the cover of Henry Lewis Nixon's novel, The Ship's Doctor, Stallion Book #209, 1954. The figure of the doctor was reworked, the medical bag was removed, and the arms repainted, and the image was reused on the the cover of Geoffrey Wagner's novel, The Dispossessed, Beacon #B-210, 1956. From the Estate of Charles Martignette.
