188. WILLIAM WARNER (1826 - 1906) Union major general who served with the 76th and 18th Ohio Vols. Infy. and on Sherman's staff during the Atlanta campaign, later U.S. Senator for Ala. (1870) and MOC for Tenn. (1897) Rare A.L.S. 1p. 8vo. on Senate Chamber letterhead, Washington, Deb. 14, 1870, sending a letter of referral. Mounted, very good. Note: Warner served only seven months in the Senate! $100 - 150
