Description

Dan was born and raised in California, and has lived on St. Simon’s Island, a small island off the coast of Georgia, since 1981. A self-taught naturalist and artist, he is very well traveled, capturing wildlife in its natural habitat and the art of its expression. Dan believed the bird to be “nature’s most eloquent expression.” Specifically, it was with the marsh birds that Dan gained acclaimed recognition and popularity. His focus on such great birds as the osprey, pelican, heron, egret, ibis and others keep his work in demand in all over the world. He, along with Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol, were commissioned by President and Nancy Reagan to add to the White House art collection at the Smithsonian. His work is also featured in many private and corporate collections throughout the world and has appeared on the covers of national and international publications.
