Lower Saxony, private collection.
Dorotheum Vienna, Sale 623, 1981, lot 474, plate 23.

Expertises:
Prof. Dr. Hans Herbst, Vienna 10.12.1978.
Timo Trümper, author of a catalogue raisonné on Jacob Weyer, Cologne 04.09.09.

In his expertise Mr Trümper states: "The attribution is confirmed by the signature on the stone in the foreground. On the basis of the colouring and the style of the figures the painting can be classified as belonging to the early period of the artist's oeuvre. It is a typical, high-quality work by Jacob Weyer around 1650 and a vivid example of the mutual influences between the Dutch and Hamburg style of painting.
This painting will be included in the forthcoming monograph 'Der Hamburger Maler und Zeichner Jacob Weyer (1623-1670)' as an authentic work by the artist."
