4 volumes, 2° (514 x 330mm). Engraved frontispiece by Moitte after Marais, vols. I-II with title vignettes, 386 engraved plates on 200 sheets, most after Wicar, under the direction of Masquelier. Vol. IV with the one-leaf 'Tableau des 48 Livraisons' at end. (Some spotting of text and plate margins, lacking the additional title in vol. I.) Contemporary russia gilt, covers with wide decorative boder, gilt spines and turn-ins, gilt edges.

A valuable record of the astonishing wealth of ancient sculptures, friezes and modern pictures, printed on papier-vélin superfin de Johannot d'Annonay. The work, which appeared in 48 parts, is dedicated by Lacombe to Pierre-Léopold Joseph, Grand Duke of Tuscany, afterwards the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold II. Brunet II, 1455. (4)
