Will Howe Foote (American, 1874-1965), "Oaxaca, Mexico," oil on board, unsigned, measures 12x16 inches unframed, overall 14.5x18 inches framed, inscribed on the verso "This unsigned oil sketch was painted by Will Howe Foote and was part of his estate - Freeman Foote, April 9, 1980. identified as Oaxaca, Mexico, 1950s. CONDITION: Good. Foote grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and was encouraged from a young age to pursue art as a career. He trained at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1894, and continued at the Art Students League in New York and the Academie Julian in Paris. He worked in Old Lyme, Connecticut, in the American west, and other locations around the world.
